About the Role

As a Laboratory Supervisor (Geochemistry), you’ll oversee daily operations while supervising a team and emphasizing quality, production, turnaround time, and safety. Your leadership will play a critical role in advancing our market share and operational efficiency while embedding a continuous improvement mindset across the team.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for maintaining production and quality targets and ensuring optimal staff levels to achieve production, quality, safety, and financial targets.
  • Train employees according to SOP’s, safety controls, and equipment.
  • Assess and recommend resource planning to improve process efficiency.
  • Schedule and prioritize workflow through the department so that client deadlines are met in a timely fashion; monitor throughput and performance.
  • Investigate and solve client complaints, NCRs, and root causes for re-work to ensure quality and customer satisfaction
  • Assist and train on digestion or fusion methods as per established SOP’s.
  • Create a positive and collaborative environment for your team. Support new initiatives and act as a technical resource for employees.
  • Motivate and coach staff, set goals, review performance and assess training needs.
  • Assist with implementing new methods and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and actively support staff in advancing their skills and achieving their career goals.
  • Assess performance against established benchmarks and key performance indicators, addressing strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Support and lead initiatives to identify and eliminate waste, reduce process variability, and implement data-driven improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with resource management for the department; purchasing supplies and maintaining equipment
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma or B.Sc. degree in a science-related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a production lab setting
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience at a laboratory
  • Experience with digestion or fusion in a laboratory setting
