Job Description
As a key member of the Kids & Company team, the Fruit cutter & the kitchen Delivery plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. This role involves food preparation (mainly cutting and cleaning produce), timely and safe delivery of meals, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the work and delivery areas. The ideal candidate is reliable, energetic, and committed to maintaining high standards of safety, hygiene, and customer service—especially in a child care environment.
Key Responsibilities Food Preparation - Wash, clean, and cut fruits and vegetables to specified sizes.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the preparation area.
- Follow proper safety procedures while handling knives and sharp tools.
- Monitor and maintain the quality and freshness of all produce.
- Accurately record quantities of produce prepared daily.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food prep and delivery.
Meal Delivery - Load and organize food items into vans based on delivery manifests.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules to ensure on-time delivery to centers.
- Deliver food in accordance with food safety guidelines and company standards.
- Assist fellow drivers with loading/unloading as needed.
Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance - Perform daily checks of vehicle lights, signals, and wear-and-tear.
- Keep delivery vehicles and cargo areas clean and organized.
- Clean and organize delivery equipment (e.g., delivery bags, Cambros) after use.
- Report any vehicle issues or warning lights immediately.
Other Duties - Perform additional tasks as directed by the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
- Uphold respectful manners and a tidy appearance at all times.
- Contribute positively to a child-focused and safety-conscious environment.
Requirements - Minimum age of 26 (for insurance purposes).
- At least 3 years of driving or related work experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physically fit and able to lift loads of 50+ lbs.
- Basic knowledge of produce handling and cutting techniques.
- Comfortable working with knives and other sharp kitchen tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Team player with a positive and professional attitude.
- Ability to remain calm and find solutions under pressure.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Previous experience in a daycare or food service setting is an asset.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and medical assessments.
