We are actively seeking committed and qualified educators who are dedicated to living in and being an active member of the community and who can adapt well to a remote lifestyle. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

• Grade 12 graduation or equivalent;

• Experience working with youth;

• Post-secondary training in Exceptionalities Worker Program Special Education Teacher Education Early Childhood Education Social Services or Medical Services would be an asset;

• Experience integrating self-regulation and social-emotional care practices in the classroom is an asset.

• Experience with restorative justice in a classroom setting would be an asset.

• Experience working with neuro-diverse students will be an asset.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications skills and knowledge but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture:

• Ability to work effectively with students teachers and parents;

• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment;

• Ability to work as a member of a team;

• Good organizational interpersonal and communication skills;

• Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments;

• Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision;

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with parents and caregivers establishing cooperative and authentic connections to support the best school experience possible;

• Desire and passion for developing and maintaining strong and respectful relationships and trust with students their families school staff education workers and the community as a whole.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
• Standard First Aid Certificate or a willingness to complete within 3 months
• Completion of the Educational Assistant Module by the end of the school year

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• If you are a permanent (indeterminate) Educational Assistant in a Yukon school you will need to seek permission from your Superintendent to apply on this job.
